Advertising

October 17th, 2006

Greetings, this will be my first time posting on our network blog. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dan Lingenfelter. I am the Operations Manager for XMG Networks Inc. I have been with the company for two or more years now working behind the scenes observing and managing the day-to-day operations. But enough about me lets talk about XMG and my “plan” if you will.

The goal of this plan is: to make XMG Networks more widely known. To become the “Everything” web service for private and personal users. To tackle this goal, we have already set into place some key objectives:

  1. The Renewal and makeover of our image hosting service, XMG Image.
  2. Updating our user interface of both the paid and free hosting control panel.
  3. Increasing activity levels of the community forums.
  4. To continue to offer excellent support through every medium in which it is offered.
  5. Increase the budget on advertisement to enable people to be aware of our services.

All of these objectives have been either accomplished or started. The XMG Image service is about to be launched within the next month. The user interface of our paid customers has been re-designed and free control panels updated regularly with the ever changing service. The community forum (http://www.xmgnetworks.com/forum/) has seen a steady increase in activity although more growth is something to be wished for. Our support has still remained a top priority with most problems having a relatively low response time. The final objective, the increase in the advertisement budget to allow service awareness, is still in the planning phase.

The advertisement of XMG Networks has been slow if not at a stand still. Increasing advertisement means more service awareness; this in turn allows XMG to grow and introduce new services and better your experience as a customer. To do this, radical changes have to be made in our advertising department. New ideas need to be pursued to find affordable and efficient advertising mediums. This includes but is not limited to the internet. A large part of our current advertising is from ads posted on user’s sites and search engines. This has gotten us to where we are today and we can proudly show our large user base as the sum of these things. However growth has been slow these last few months. To increase growth is to increase XMG’s ability to provide you, the customer, with better services.

Advertisement mediums are being explored such as the printing of materials (Stickers, T-shirts, etc.) This kind of approach means more product awareness to local communities where these items are made visible. Locally there are less people interested in the services we provide. This means that through this kind of advertising, we reach more people but cannot control the type of people we are exposed to. Through the internet we can focus who views our advertisements based on interests. The downfall of internet advertising is that more people are becoming “immune” to web advertisements; people are overlooking them, not paying much attention anymore. Another downfall of internet advertising is cost. However with printing of materials, the fee is one time for printing and the advertisement lasts as long as the object is in existence. The fees for printing are substantially less than internet advertising.

XMG Networks is currently looking at our printing options right now. Currently we have cafe press items for sale, but are looking to print stickers and other things. Be on the lookout for giveaways, contests, and possibly even an online store in the future. As these plans are developed and put into action we will notify you.
